 Fishing in Cork & County Cork

Ballycotton - East Cork Angling
  Ballycotton has on offer two deep sea licensed charter boats based in Ballycotton Harbour. Fish which can be caught here would include blue shark, conger, pollack, ling, coalfish, garfish, pouting, whiting, wrasse etc. Garryvoe offers shore fishing, and catches can include thornback and painted ray, bass, conger, dogfish, codling, whiting and flatfish. Also worth a try are the shore fishing from Ballybranigan Beach for pollack and mackerel and conger eels, Ballycroneen for good wrasse fishing, also pollack and mackerel, Ballyandreen for flatfish, bass, coalfish.  Launching near Ballycotton Harbour small boat fishing offers ray, flatfish and dogfish. Best to fish in  June to October for blue shark and September to December for ray, codling, dogfish, flatfish.

Bantry - West Cork Angling
  Bantry Bay and Beara Peninsula offers the following fishing areas for various species:
Ballydonegan Strand offers bass and flat fish on sandy beach at mouth of stream. The pier offers dogfish and flatfish.  Dursey Rocks offer good wrasse fishing on north western side of cable car and pollack and mackerel. Dursey Sound offers fishing for wrasse and spinning for pollack. D.O.D Pier offers thornback ray and dogfish and mullet. Coarrid Point enjoy fishing for ray, dogfish, conger and three bearded rockling. Zetland Pier the Angler can fish for flatfish and dogfish. Coomhola Estuary enjoy fishing for flounder. Reenydonegan Lake fish for dogfish and flounder and some thornback ray. Bantry Pier offers fishing for conger and dogfish. Gerahies Pier has fishing for mullet and conger. Goats Path has mackerel and pollack and wrasse. Collack has wrasse and pollack.

Beara Peninsula - West Cork Angling
  Beara Peninsula deep sea angling has three deep sea licensed charter boats based in Castletownbere offering blue shark, ling, pollack, haddock and coalfish in the area. Good shore fishing can be found at Dursey Sound where the Angler can find wrasse and pollack  and with bass on offer at  Ballydonegan beach. September to November are the best time for shore fishing for bass, pollack and wrasse. Bantry Bay, Kenmare Bay allow small boats to operate and fishing there can provide ray, huss, flatfish, spurdog and conger. General fishing off reefs off Castletownbere is good.

Cork Harbour - Cork Angling
  Cork Harbour has 10 deep sea licensed charter boats based in Crosshaven, Glenbrook, Cobh and East Ferry and all boats have tackle hire. Fishing June to October offers Blue shark. The Angler can choose from pier, beach, estuary and rocks which can yield a wide range of species such as wrasse, conger, bass, ray, codling, dogfish, mullet, mackerel, dabs, plaice, flounder and whiting. Small boat fishing offers very good bass fishing in Summer. From June to October best to fish for blue shark, and all year round for cod and ray, and September to January, shore angling offers codling, whiting, coalfish and dabs. Cod and whiting best caught during the hours of darkness, Cobh would be a good area.

Kinsale - West Cork Angling
  Kinsale Sea Angling has several licensed charter boats in Kinsale. Species on offer include  blue shark, pollack, ling, conger and coalfish. The famous Ling rocks good for pollack, ling, cod, and conger and the wreck of the Lusitania, close to the Old Head of Kinsale. Onshore fishing at Bandon Estuary good for bass and flounder and Garretstown Strand offers good bass fishing. Small boat fishing in Sandy Cover offers flatfish and dogfish and bass. Best time to fish for blue shark being June to October.
 

Mizen Head Peninsula - West Cork Angling
  Mizen Head Peninsula offers deep Sea Angling using Charter boats based at Schull and Goleen. Reefs off Mizen Head offers excellent pollack fishing also on offer are the blue shark, conger, bull huss, ling, coalfish, cod and pouting and some of the best haddock fishing in Ireland. The Angler may also come across the common skate and thornback ray. The best shore fishing areas include Crookhaven, Barley Cove and Dunmanus for pollack, wrasse, dogfish, bull huss, flounder, conger, dabs and wrasse and in Ballydehob Harbour are sea trout and bass. Schull & Goleen offer good small boat fishing for ray, dogfish, plaice and some turbot and Dunmanus Bay offers wrasse, pollack and conger. 

Clonakilty, Union Hall, Baltimore - West Cork Angling
  West Cork has licensed deep sea charter boats based at Clonakilty, Union Hall and Baltimore and allows for fishing of blue shark, reef and wreck fishing.and the species on offer here can be pollack, coalfish, conger, cod, common skate etc. On shore fishing at Clonakilty estuary & Inchydoney beach allows for bass fishing while large mullet and gilthead bream can be found at Rosscarbery Estuary. Clonakilty, Union Hall and Baltimore goof for ray, dogfish, flatfish, bull huss, pollack, wrasse and conger by small boat.

East Cork
  Knockadoon Head fishing here offers pollock & mackerel and wrasse, conger eels and dogfish. Ballymacoda can offer flounder, plaice and dogfish. Youghal Quay can offer the Angler mackerel, conger eels, rockling, codling, whiting and coalfish. Pilmore area offer flounder, bass, and dogfish. The Abbey Youghal and the area across from it offers fishing for flounder, or bass in late Summer.

Courtmacsherry - West Cork Angling
  Courtmacsherry, Angling in West Cork offers shore fishing for  bass and flounder. Mullet can be fished for at Timoleague and conger at Courtmacsherry Pier. Timoleague is good for small boat fishing for bass and ray, flatfish and dogfish in the bay.
When to Fish: Seven Heads offers fishing for the common skate.
