Crosshaven is a quiet and peaceful village located at the point where the Owenabue River enters the sea at the mouth of Cork harbour. Here you can enjoy beautiful walks with sea, river and land views.

Drake's Pool', located 2km upriver from Crosshaven, is so named following an incident whereby England's Sir Francis Drake eluded the Spanish Armada by sailing upriver at Crosshaven. Crosshaven, famous for its pubs, offers many facilities including shore or deep-sea angling, wreck fishing and boat or yacht charter.

Nearby scenic Church bay, Myrtleville and Weaver's Point with sand and pebble beaches, are popular bathing places and attract many visitors on warm summer days. Situated only 8 miles (12km) from Ringaskiddy Ferry port and 9 miles (14km) from Cork Airport, Crosshaven makes it a very accessible place. Only 9 miles (14 km) from the Monkstown-Carrigaloe cross river ferry, to bring you for a day to Cobh, Fota and East-Cork.

Enjoy a walk along the old railway line which is now a walk and cycle route. It stretches along the Owenabue River from Carrigaline past the Royal Cork Yacht Club and into Crosshaven village. Arriving in Crosshaven stop for well earned food and drinks at Cronins Traditional Pub & Restaurant in Crosshaven square. Continue onwards past the boat yard to stroll up the Point Road for imposing views of Cork Harbour, or take the car and park in the Car Park provided at the top

Perched at the top is Camden Fort Meagher one of the finest remaining examples of a classical Coastal Artillery Fort in the world. It spans 45 acres of which 65% of Camden Fort is located underground.

Crosshaven old railway line walk

Today, 'Drake's Pool' is renowned for its scenic beauty. The village is also home to the world's oldest yacht club, the 'Royal Cork', founded in 1720. The club is now surrounded by extensive serviced marinas, boatyards and a chandlery.

Prestigious world yacht racing championships are now hosted by Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven is fast becoming the blue water sailors' favourite stop-off along Europe's western seaboard so come and enjoy Cork Week held in July each year.
