My wife and I visited the cobh center in February 2001 and found it to be very interesting , enlightening and poiniant as it tells the story of the emmigrnats who left their families and home sin search of a new life. As I read the tale of the "Irish Wake" my eyes filled with compassion for those leaving and those left behind. We all take for granted the ease with which we travel around the world today. In that time a venture like this must have been almost unimagineable. I'm sure emmigranys from other countries suffered the same anxieties.

I am looking for the townland of Lota Beg in the Civil Parishof Rathcooney in Cork, E.R., PLU of Cork. My grandfather Jeremiah O'Donovan was married there in about 1898-99 to a Mary Anne Egan. His children were Marie (Powers), Frank or Francis, Harry or Henry and Rita. Rita was born about 1910. He moved to Belfast after Rita's birth. Mary Anne had died. He dropped the O' and remarried Mary Ethel Mc Cormick in St. Paul's in Belfast in August of 1926. Rita died that year. My father Jeremiah (Jerry) was born in 1939. I am looking for any and all information about my grandfather and or his first wife. Mary Anne was a very talented artist as well. Please help! If I can get some info, we are trying to arrange a fact finding trip over for a couple of weeks. This would be a tremendous gift for my father. Thank you!:)

Hello from Baton Rouge, Louisiana! My great-grandmother Elizabeth Geary Smith was born New Year's Day 1870 either in Youghal or in Co. Waterford -- she died in 1912 in my hometown of Oneida, New York; no one kept in touch with the unnamed two sisters in Ireland mentioned in her obituary, or with the three in New York City at that time: Anna Costello, Ellen Geary, and Stacia Ahearn. Do any of these names ring a bell with anyone in Youghal?

Bantry is a lovely place to stay, with friendly people who make you welcome.I stayed there years ago camping with a choir from Streatham London on the front lawns of Bantry House where we were woken by the music of Edgertons saxaphone and the beautiful sunrises. God bless for such lovely memories.

Hello! I´m searching for any informations about the
Irish-Folk-Group "Galleon" from Cork (I don´t know if it is
Cork City or County Cork). The last two years we didn´t get
any informations about them.Former they give lot of concerts
in Germany in the near of Cologne. Does anybody know, if there
is a contact-person or a list with dates, adresses or anything
else. I know, it´s a big pleasure. But I´m sending a lot of
Thanks to the beautiful Island. Bye, bye your Marion

hmm well now - I´ve desperately searched the web for
gathering any kind of information bout the irish whiskey
"Paddy" but found not a lot. I am not a whiskey-drinker at all
but this Paddy-stuff is great, probably the best I´ve ever
tried at least. So if anybody may provide me with an address
(maybe of the producers destillery) or distributors I´d be
rather grateful. - thanxalot
