As a child and teenager I would spend many happy summers in
Kinsale. I wonder if any of my old friends from Kinsale are
reading the comments. My name is Monica. It may ring a bell
with someone. I came to Kinsale with my Dad and it was in the
late 1950's into the early 1960's. Would love to hear from old
friends.

this is a badly informed site. having looked at only the
listings for pubs and restaurants, i find that half the pubs
mentioned have undergone a name change since, one having been
absorbed entirely into another. it's also hugely
under-representative of the wealth of both in Bantry and
surrounding areas, as any directory can tell you..

Just wanted to express my extreme admiration for the Beara
Penninsula and the communities of Castletownbere, Allihies and
Garnish Cross. I am a decendent of the McNally Clan from
Garnish Cross and wish that I could return to the homeland

reunion like the one in 2000. A piece of me truly lies in
Ireland.
Take care

Cork has been my favourite city for the last 4 years, and
continues to be. I visit at least twice a year. My reasons:
well, the shopping is fantastic. There's a great variety of
stores from major departments to small stores tucked away
within the narrow back lanes of the city. The food is
excellent, try Luigi Malone's for a variety of steaks, pastas,
and cocktails, Zanzibar in Cook Street for european tastes, or
just wonder around the streets to see what you come across.
The pubs and live music are great. You can find traditional
music within the Lobby bar over the other side of the river or
Clancy's for the cheapest Jameson's whiskey in town. The music
just happens in most bars within the city. The must see's
around Cork have to be St Finbarre's cathedral, shandon for an
evening stroll high up into the city for a fantastic view, or
catch a bus into Blarney for a shop at the Woolen Mills, or
Cobh for some of the most fantastic collection of local
buildings, and fishing village. You musn't leave Cork without
visiting Kinsale either. another tiny village, it's full of
heritage, and local interest including some great pubs. The
Opera house is also worth a visit, as there are a range of
plays and concerts weekly. This and a lot more reasons why I
love Cork. It was recommended by a friend born there, and like
all the locals is an extremely friendly, exciting, reasonably
priced breakaway from the Uk or wherever your'e travelling
from. Most of all I have found it the easiest, and friendliest
city to visit as a single traveller. A fantastic choice.
