CommentsThe first port I ever sailed into was Cobh. That was in 1958. It still is the most beautiful Port I have ever sailed into. Have not yet set foot on Irish soil. Hope to soon. It was also the last port my Grandmother and her Twin sister sailed from in the 1880s. I wonder if it was the beautiful welcome we recieved in your harbour that caused me to love the sea. Would also like to enter your chat area. Nora Fraher Cruise Agent.

CommentsI work as a teacher at a state adult education centre in Oslo, Norway. We have a project where we try to create three "virtual" villages in Ireland. The villages are situated in the Bantry Bay area, this means we have to gather information about the Bantry Bay area to make the simulation as "real" a s possible. It was a pleasure to see the information about the area on your homepage, it's amazing how close we came to the real Ireland in the descriptions of our virtual villages. Ireland IS a beautiful country. If you would like to take a look at the Simulation you can visit the following address: http://oyt.oulu.fi:800/telsipro/bin/user Since a username and password is required I would suggest that you e-mail to get these. I am sure that my students will enjoy learning more about Ireland through this simulation.
CommentsWe will visiting Ireland in June of 1999. We plan on renting a car and staying in Bed and Breakfast facilities. Your site has been very helpful thus far. She was born Elizabeth Healy and I think she lived in Donoughmore or something that sounds like that. Her youngest sister was Christina Porter (married name) and the family still has a dairy farm there.

CommentsHi there, my husband and i are HUGE Rory Gallagher fans, and so we have planned a trip to Cork to pay our respects at his resting place, visit "crowley's music store" where he bought his first guitar, and to tip a guinness with friends to his memory. but most of all, to visit your beautifull country which he spoke of with such love and warmth, he said he felt peacfull there, and from all that we have seen here and in countless pictures and stories, i know we will too! see you in may,99!!!!!! perry and joyce Lichtenberger
CommentsMy ancestry stretches back to Kinsale. Does anyone know the name Coleman. Family history says that my great grandfather was the harbour master at Kinsale. My grandfather ran away from home when he was 12. he sailed the great schooners out from Cork and told great tales of rounding the Horn in storms whilst up on the yards. He even worked on one of the New York bridges before settling in Birkenhead England where he worked at Cammel Laird. For his sake I would dearly like to trace Irish relatives. I have visited Ireland many times but had no success.
CommentsMighty

CommentsOn 3 Jan 99, I mentioned that we were interested in visiting county Cork this year. I'm learning more about my Irish roots. Are the surnames McGrath and McGrough related? Also, I've heard that my grandfather changed his name to McGraw after moving to America because people here mispronounced the name McGrough. Does anybody have any comments on this? Thanks, Bill Milcarek

CommentsTo Mr Miguel Luden : Your very rude message on the Cork Guide today reveals more about yourself than anything else. You don' say whether you have visited Ireland or lived there, yet you seem to be an authority on that subject. Are you living in a cave or what, that you haven't heard about the tremendous ecomomic boom in Ireland, resulting in a huge influx of people back to Ireland because of the great employment opportunities there. Do you think that we will all be greatly influenced by your crude letter, which shows that you can neither spell nor type!! Yet you call the Irish race "ignorant bastards". Yes indeed, you have given Portugese tourism a big shot in the arm, I'm sure we will all be rushing out tomorrow to book flights to your lovely country!! Get a life, Miguel!

Commentswhat the hell is so bloody interesting about Eire? you people have a very touristic notion of Ireland, what about if you try to work and to live there?! Maybe then you would think twice! Don't the irish people laugh when they ear these ridiculous pantomine non-sense?! Ignorant bastards!!!!...by the way, visit Portugal whenever you can. (no ofense).
