Hello everybody in Cork. My name is Malcolm Wright and I
was born in Liverpool, the capital of Ireland as every
Irishman knows. My aunt lives in Lisburn, Ulster but we moved
to Mississauga, Ontario 20 years ago. My aunt and my father
have tried without success to find our relatives in Cork. My
grandmother's name was Mary Ellen Mathews, born at 6 James
Square, Cork on May 25, 1888. Her father's name was Michael
Mathews and her mother Hannah ( nee Cronin ). My gran moved to
Liverpool in the early 1900's I think. We lost touch with her
family. She lost one husband in the First War then another in
1929. He was a fireman in Liverpool and was killed on duty. The
kids ended up in orphanages and homes all over England and
Wales, with one emigrating to Canada. I would appreciate any
information on Mathews or Cronin families in the area. I've
got 6 kids so if they're anything like me I've got hundreds of
relatives there. Is 6 James Square still standing ??? If there
are any photos about I would like to see some. Look forward to
hearing from family Malcolm Wright

I am attempting to identify the parents of Denis O'Sullivan
aka: Dennis Sullivan who was born in County Cork approx. 1802.
It is recorded in his family bible that he was a descendant
from the O'Sullivan-Beare clan which defended the Dunboy
Castle in the 1600's. Dennis Sullivan married Ellen Crowley
approx. 1823 in Ireland. He brought his family to America
(Philadelphia) in 1831. Dennis had a brother named Richard
O'Sullivan who married Anna Driscoll. Prior to leaving
Ireland, all of Dennis's children were baptized at: St.
Patrick's Catholic Church, Bandon, County Cork. Children of
Dennis and Ellen were: Elizabeth b. 1826, Charles b. 1830,
Richard b. 1832 and John b. 1844.
Please contact me at: IRISHPAPADON@aol.com with any
information

Hello my name is Paula O'Hare and I am currently
researching my family history. My great grandmother was called
Margaret Barry, she was an Irish folk singer in the 1950's
right up to her death in 1989. She sang and played the banjo.
She played in pubs, clubs and festiavls in Ireland, England
and America. She grew up in Cork but I don't know where or who
her family were. Recently I found her old passport and it
states that her name used to be Cleary. I hope someone out
there can help, please get in touch if you know anything.

attend the Donovan Clan reunion in June. Really looking

events site as at this stage it does not contain any

area. Hope all is well with everyone in Cork and best wishes

My grandfather was born in Cork and I would be interested
to know if their are any McKigneys left there. Looking for
kin. He came to America when he was 10 with an Aunt and Uncle.
I only found this out yesterday and I'm 50. I never new him
but heard he was a sweet heart of a man. Called my mom his
Josephine my Irish Queen. All my mothers brothers and sisters
are deseased and would love to find someone who might know
someone there named McKigney or McEgneigh.

Hi my name is Margaret Buckley. My dad is from Banteer near
Kanturk in County Cork. I try to travel to Cork every couple
of years atleast. I lived there for 8.5 months in 98 and loved
it. I'm coming back to stay in July this year and bringing my
friend with me who has never been before. Can't wait to show
her around. I think the nightclubs and pubs need to be
updated, and sure history is good, but Cork has a few more
modern sites to visit don't you think? Just got the internet
at work,(I'll get address soon)first time I've checked it out
and I knew this would be the first thing I'd look up. I'll
write again soon. Hi to anybody that knows me. Watch out boys,
here come 2 slappers from New Zealand. Gorgeous we are!!

Looking for any relatives who may browse this site. My
family is from Bocarna, Glengarriff, Cork. My GGrandparents
Patrick & Bridget(Sullivan)Murphy immigrated to Boston
around 1840's with my grandmother Mary Murphy. According to a
geneology study I had done I have many relatives still in
Bocarna, most recently I heard of a relative named Maggie "the
island" Sullivan who died in August at the age of 99. My name
is Kevin Sullivan and I have much info on my family history
and I intend to visit Bocarna soon. If anyone has any info on
Bocarna or of the relatives of Patrick & Bridget
(Sullivan) Murphy, or Maggie Sullivan I would appreciate an
email back to me at Ksully54@aol.com Thanks.

Hello. My name is Steven Toomey. My wife Deborah and I
reside in Syracuse, New York, USA. I visited this web site as
part of a search for information on my ancestors, who may have
lived in the parish of Macroom prior to emigrating to the US
in the 1860s. Debbie and I are exploring the possibility of
visiting Ireland sometime this year, and perhaps visiting Cork
County in particular so I may conduct some geneaological
research. We have dreamed of traveling to Ireland for many
years, and we hope to fulfill that dream soon.

I come from a rural area of New Brunswick Canada which is
called, Youghall. An extra "L" was added to the word at some
point in recent history. Most people here have little idea
that there is another Youghal on the planet. I am trying to
find out how the name came to Canada and with whom. I have a
list of original immigrants but heaven't managed to
cross-reference the enthusiast who called it by its name. Any
ideas? Love your site. sincerely,
Bruce Allen

My parents lived in Schull some 25 years plus ago and it
was a great place. I fear tourism has taken over and not
necessarily for the best. I shall hold on to my memories.

good morning, I am from Belgium and this summer I'm going
to make a tour through the south of ireland with 15 others. On
this tour I will pass also rosscarbery. What I would have
liked to know are the prices of Marine Leisure Centre, the Pet
Farm and the Argicultural Museum! Thank you very much in
advance! I would like to add that it is kind of urgent because
I have to make up a totalprice by this friday. Please respond
as soon as possible! Thank you for the trouble! Greetings, Els
Callebaut.
