Thank you for posting. Very interesting and hope to have
enough information for an upcoming holiday there to help my
son celebrate his 18th birthday (19.11.81). He was born on my
father's 75th birthday. My grandfather, John Daily (changed at
Niagara Falls to Dailey) came from Bantry, Ireland, in the
late 1880s.

I know this is late in the game, so to speak, but if anyone
reading this can help me I would appreciate greatly. I am
arriving in Cork City 22 Oct. 1999 and as of today (14 Oct) do
NOT have hotel room lined up. Due to Guinness Jazz Fest, it
seems most lodging facilities in Cork City Centre are full up.
Anyone with the Tourist Board or a hotel or B/B who happens to
read this in the next few days --- please e-mail me at
RToomey@yahoo.com if you can help or if you have any ideas. I
hope my ancestral Irish luck (Toomeys of Cork/Kerry) will
prevail. All else failing, I will sleep in the Kent Train
Station if I have to.

Hi,
My name is Steve Ussery. About three years ago I was sent
to Cork for what was supposed to be three year assignment with
Apple Computer. (I now work as a software engineering manager
for Adobe Systems in San Jose, California.) Unfortunately my
project was cancelled after three months but luckily my family
had not relocated there yet. So all I got was a 3 month stay.
I have been to many places all over the world but I have never
found a place that I liked better than Cork City. It is a
wonderful place that is full of beauty and class! I would like
to return to live there someday. My current thinking is that
after I get my own two children out of college, I would like
to return to college myself for a Ph.D. and teach at the
university level. (I currently have a M.S. in Computer
Science.) I know that Cork has both UCC and the RTC but I'm
not sure how welcome or needed I would be there. Any advice or
suggestions would be appreciated?
P.S. I met a nice couple when I was there in Cork but lost
their address. If anyone knows how I might reach John &
Deirdre Forde of Douglas I would appreciate it?
