Cork City Jazzband:Cork City Jazzband: Probably the best known dixieland band in the South. The group has played on radio and TV many times. Superb sounds for enjoyable Festival atmosphere (nightly). This great band is joined by three special guests: Paddy Cole, Sonny Knowles and Joe Mac (Sat session at 1pm). The band (minus guests) also performs on Mon at 8.30pm. East Coast Jazzmen: Impressive dixieland and small band swing from this classy group. Enjoy the red-hot music of New Orleans and Chicago and beat out those jazzy rhythms - eight to the bar (Fri at 9.30pm; Sun lunchtime & 9.30pm). Pee Dee Jazzband:From Copenhagen, Denmark, and led by ace clarinet player, Preben 'Pee Dee' Danielsen, this New Orleans style band has appeared at festivals all over Europe. Great vocals and powerful swing as this top-notch and very entertaining band strut their stuff! Back in Cork by popular demand.

International Blues Band: This superb blues band has appeared at festivals in Europe and Canada, performed with B.B. King and James Brown and been regulars on Irish and French TV. Also the boys are back in town with Thin Az Lizzy, the superb Phil Lynott tribute band (Mon afternoon & night) and there's the funky sounds of top UK groove band Plastic Soul Connection (Sat & Sun at 4pm).

Assisted by his all-star band of Vic Martin (Eurythmics), John Kettner and Winston Marche (Bob Dylan), this gifted, red-hot group will keep this excellent city centre venue rocking all weekend (sessions Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun /Mon nights; and Sat/Sun afternoons).

WESTERN ROAD

The Disciples of Soul : Packing them in all over the UK is this talented soul sensation. Pure soul is something you cannot hide and that's what the Disciples deliver - raw power featuring a three man bass section and great vocals. All the classic soul hits - 'I Feel Good', 'Midnight Hour' and lots more from a superb band making its return visit to the Festival. Be there! Great venue.

Cool Running: This is a really hot band delivering a powerful mixture of blues, jazz and funk. They perform original tunes, along with covers of John Hiatt, Average White Band and Robben Ford. Based in Dublin, the band has performed at many major festivals at home and abroad. A good time is guaranteed in the Cavern at the Western Star.

SULLIVAN'S QUAY

Apartment: Boogie the night away with one of the North's brightest funk and soul bands. Great vocals, groovy rhythms and a great attitude. Have toured with UB40, Level 42, Bad Manners and Ian Dury & The Blockheads.

Sat/Sun/Mon at 9pm.

Soul Explosion: From Wales, this power- packed band delivers a red-hot mix of James Brown, Otis Redding, The Blues Brothers, Sam & Dave and other soul and rhythm 'n' blues classics. Hugely popular in the UK, the front line has two sassy soul singers and a really cracking horn section. So, it'll be party time at this excellent entertainment venue. You'll 'feel good' with B'Kay's Soul Explosion. Don't miss a great night out. Sat/Sun/Mon at 11.30pm.
