Fota House Arboretum & Gardens in East Cork is just a 20 minute drive from Cork City. Consisting of a old Regency Period stately House and 27 acres of beautiful Gardens open to the public, a short distance here also is Fota Wildlife Park. A wonderful way to enjoy a day out for the family in East Cork, with parking and cafe tea rooms on site and miles of gardens for the kids to explore, ideal for a family picnic.
Tours of Fota House are available regularly during the months Mid March to September, and Fota Gardens and Arboretum are open all year round.

Fota House once all part of the Smith Barry estate, this Regency Period House was built in the 19th Century, displaying Neo-Classical work in the interior of the house. The entrance hall has beautiful detail in its 6 columns with the Smith-Barry Crest seen overhead. The Dinning Room, large and spacious, again with columns and ornate ceiling work and with many family portraits to be seen in this room and throughout the house. Walking through to the old kitchen and scullery, shows the workings of the kitchen back in the 19th Century. Many wonderful paintings and architecture can be seen throughout the house.
Fota Arboretum & Gardens consists of 27 acres of land where you will find many species of trees, plants and shrubs and Orangery all on this beautifully laid out estate, once part of the Barry family estate. Fota Gardens has the advantage of the favourable climate which has lead to the success of an extensive collection of trees and shrubs, flourishing here in Fota in East Cork. At Fota Gardens you will find the beautifully designed Italian Gardens, its colourful and fragrant Rose Garden, its Walled Garden area, a Victorian Fernery area, walk around the Ornamental Pond and sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
