Elizabeth Fort first built on the site in 1601 to defend Cork City. The fort was built as a defensive structure is set on a hill offering stunning views across Cork City, from Shandon Steeple and and the stunning Saint Fin Barr's Cathedral. It is one of the best free attractions to visit in Cork city. The original fort of 1601 was demolished and rebuilt in the 1620's which you see today.
Elizabeth Fort is open to the public and entry is free of charge,it provides great views over Cork city. Opening times 0930 – 1700.
